The Library will host its first “Every Child Ready to Read” program.
Parents and children are invited to the workshop, which will offer advice on
how parents can incorporate reading into their birth through preschool-aged
child’s life through several hands-on activities.
The Every Child Ready to Read program is a set of curriculum and
materials designed to inspire parents and teachers to invest in early childhood
literacy, using libraries as a venue to share this information.
The program focuses on encouraging parents to help develop their
children’s reading skills through several different methods including:
a presentation, hands on activities, and handouts for this workshop. Parents
will be provided the necessary tools to introduce early literacy to their
child. Join Ms. Alyssa in the community room for an hour on January 10th
at 10 a.m. OR January 24th at 6 p.m.
RSVP to let us know you're coming! Walk- Ins Welcome!
“The fire of literacy is created by
the emotional sparks between a child, a book and the person reading. It isn't
achieved by the book alone, or by the child alone, or by the adult who's
reading aloud -- it's the relationship winding between all three, bringing them
together in easy harmony," Mem Fox
