INTRO TO RESEARCHING
YOUR FAMILY HISTORY AND WORKSHOP TO FOLLOW
Join us on Thursday, August 3rd at the Marlboro
Library for two of our popular genealogy programs! Patrons are welcome to
stay for either just one or both programs, but please be aware if you’d like to
reserve one of the Library laptops for the 7:00 pm workshop, registration is
required.
Were you unable to attend past sessions of our Genealogy
classes? On August 3, at 6:00 pm, the Marlboro Library is offering
another chance for beginners to learn how to map out a family tree with an
encore presentation! The cost of an Ancestry.com annual subscription can
cost hundreds of dollars. AncestryLibrary.com, which is available in the
Library, has many of the same features of the paid subscription. RSVP for
this class (at marlborolibrary.org) to learn the basics of using this product
in the Library and discover what other genealogical resources we have
available. Learn also some tips and tricks on how to search through
websites and databases found online. Walk-ins welcome!
Then, at 7:00 pm learn to apply these newfound research
skills to make discoveries. Join us for our hands-on workshop consisting
of a specially set up research space with laptops and other local history
materials. Registered patrons can explore databases and web sites like
Ancestrylibrary.com, Family Search and more. Library staff will be on
hand to help with any questions or problems, as well as one of our local
history researchers to assist with anyone interested in documents, photos,
maps, books and more found in our local history collection.
Bring your library card and your family research as far back
as you know (even if it’s just your grandparents) and we will help you expand
your search! If you would like to reserve one of our six available
laptops, be sure to register at marlborolibrary.org. If you have your own
laptop, feel free to join us without registering.
